FX Dashboard
This article explains how to use the CNS FX Dashboard to view exposures, customise settings, run scenario analysis, and assess hedge compliance against policy.
1. Overview
The FX Dashboard is a core decision-making tool in CNS. It provides a consolidated view of your exposures, hedge cover, forecasts, and policy compliance, helping you make informed hedge strategy decisions.
2. Accessing the FX Dashboard
-
Navigate to FX → FX Dashboard.
-
By default:
-
Start Date = Today
-
End Date = 1 year from today
-
As At Date = Current date (can be set to a past date for board reporting or compliance review)
-
3. Viewing Exposures and Data Points
The dashboard displays a wide range of data, including:
-
Forecast data (grey bar)
-
Forward cover (blue)
-
Options (light blue)
-
Reference forecast (based on 12–24 months of actual FX deliveries)
-
Market forward curve (orange line)
-
Weighted average hedge rates
-
Achievable rates
-
Budget rates
-
Policy minimum/maximum bands
Users can toggle these fields on/off to simplify the view for analysis or board reporting.
4. Customising Your Dashboard
-
Hide data points you don’t need to reduce clutter (e.g., maturities, options).
-
Save your preferred layout:
-
Select which fields you want visible.
-
Click Save Settings.
-
Your chosen layout will load automatically each time you access the dashboard.
-
5. Default Date Settings
-
Go to Settings → FX Dashboard Settings.
-
Adjust default parameters, for example:
-
Start Date = Start of current month
-
End Date = Today + 1 year
-
-
Saved settings apply each time you open the dashboard.
6. Scenario Analysis
The FX Dashboard includes tools for modelling hedge strategies:
-
Identify where you are under or over policy (e.g., under-covered in September).
-
Add a proposed hedge (e.g., NZD 1 million forward).
-
Toggle Trade Ideas to see the impact on:
-
Weighted average hedge rate
-
Policy compliance percentage
-
Overall cover vs policy bands
-
This allows you to assess the effect of potential trades before execution.
7. Hedge Compliance vs Policy
-
A dedicated view shows cover % vs policy bands over time.
-
Example: If coverage is 41% but policy minimum is 60–100%, the dashboard highlights you are outside policy.
-
Useful for board reporting and monitoring compliance.
8. Exporting Data
-
Export dashboard outputs (charts + tables) directly to PDF for management or board reporting.
